This article implies that desktop OSs do not have the problem but it would help for that to be stated explicitly. I know that one difference is that in desktop OSs files and directories can have permissions assigned to them granting or denying access by account. I know that Linux, the real OS for Android, definitely has that feature but Android does not support it, correct? I think that malware executing in a desktop OS can access any file it has access to therefore I am not sure how much secure that desktop OSs are compared to smartphone OSs.
