Quantum computing made significant strides in 2024, but it’s yet to demonstrate a practical advantage over classical digital computers, according to a recent trends report released by Forrester Research.
Quantum computing science is advancing, even if it is still mostly theoretical, and you did a great job of explaining it. I enjoyed the real picture of the advancement in 2024 and the gap between discoveries and their implementation. Maybe we are focusing too much on what quantum computing cannot do. Some slight enhancements in stability or error correction could lead to certain applications that might appear sooner than we expect. Can quantum breakthroughs be accelerated by partnerships between quantum companies and technology giants? Do the delays happen because of erros and infrastructure or are they purely technical?
